summary: inspired by you could be happy by snow patrol. breakups are hard and this is the story of one, Y/N and freds. with a part inspired by thirteen going on thirty.
notes: this is quite different to anything i’ve ever written before and i’m not too sure how i feel about it. i really hope it comes across as how i wanted it to and it’s not too confusing with the time jumps etc.
“Don’t go out there!” George yelled. He appeared from behind a stack of boxes, looking at his twin with pleading eyes. Fred’s hand paused on the door handle, confused.
“Why not?” Fred questioned. “I always go and get us coffee first thing.”
George debated back and forth with whether he should tell him the truth. Fred had been a wreck when he and Y/N had broken up, what if bringing her up took him straight back there? “It’s nothing,” George replied, deciding to be honest. “It’s just I saw Y/N earlier. At Gringotts.”
Fred’s hand fell from the handle as he took in that information. At just the mention of her name his heart started racing, nerves bittering his good mood. He wondered how she’d react if she saw him, probably not in a good way. The familiar feeling of regret washed over him, opening up the pit of sadness he was used to. Why had be done it?
He realised George was watching him anxiously. “That’s nice,” he said, doing his best to sound unbothered. “How was she?”
