i have a genuine question for you! i’m absolutely not sure how to word this without sounding like a total snob, so don’t take this the wrong way, but do you think in order to understand harry potter better you have to have read the books? because i kinda do. there are a lot of characters that we aren’t fully able to understand in the movies. (PLEASE don’t attack me this is jsut my opinion) but i feel like snape would be liked less if more people read the books. same thing with draco i think. don’t get me wrong i think draco is a fascinating character but in some points he went out of his way to be mean. i know he does it in the movies too but it’s just. different in the books i suppose. but i also think harry is a bit of a prick in the books sometimes too! sorry about that little vent there haha.

hey there sunshine! :) firstly, feel free to come and vent any time you need! that’s what friends are for, right? second, i will never, ever attack and/or judge you for your opinion. as long as we’re not outright hurting anyone, we’re all entitled to opinions! and third, i 100% agree. while the films do a great job of showcasing the basic plotlines, there is a lot of underlying character development that we miss. if everything from the books had been filmed, the movies would be like ten hours long! (which i’d totally watch btw). but i agree. there are certain things about characters that were left out of the films and i think people would understand the series a bit better if they read the books. if they only choose to watch the films, then okay! that’s cool too. but there are, of course, certain elements one can only gather from text, and that goes for all film adaptions of novels. the books are so much more dense and we get a lot more from them. so don’t you worry about coming here to rant, i am 100% here for it!
